| The management of diabetes is complicated with many organisations/ providers working very hard but in an isolated way. CODA was started in 2000 by interested groups to help: Promote community awareness, ownership and involvement Work co-operatively Share resources Standardise and implement best practice Network & provide peer support Participate in Counties Manukau 'Lets Beat Diabetes' Who joins CODA? Any organisation or group with an interest in preventing diabetes and its complications in the community. Members include NGOs, Private Trusts, GP Practices, Community representatives and others. Membership may be active (participating in CODA activities) or by Mailing List (keeping in touch with what's happening, who's doing what, etc) Why join CODA? In the community our strength is in our diversity. Co-ordination and co-operation is vital to arrest the progress of the diabetes epidemic in New Zealand. What does belonging to CODA involve? Participation as able/desired in planning, carrying out community diabetes prevention activities, designing resources for general use. Sharing information, resources and support.
